    What is a pulse valve?

    A fast-opening diaphragm valve that releases a pulse of compressed air to clean the bags or cartridges of dust collector filters without stopping the plant.

    Is there an alternative to Mecair valves?

    Yes: AIRGLOBE RMF-Z-25 and RMF-Z-40 valves are interchangeable with Mecair/Goyen VNP-208 and VNP-214 (and the older VEP-208 and VEP-214), and we supply diaphragms and covers compatible with Mecair, Goyen and ASCO.

    What pressure do pulse valves work at?

    RMF-Z and RMF-Q valves work with compressed air from 0.3 to 0.8 MPa, that is from 3 to 8 bar.

    What is the difference between single and double diaphragm?

    Larger valves use two diaphragms in series to open large flow paths faster: in the RMF-Z series, models above 1" 1/2 are double diaphragm.

    Pulse valves description

    The unique feature of these valves is the extremely rapid opening and a high instantaneous flow rate that creates a shock wave, enabling the cleaning of the filter medium with minimal consumption of compressed air. The valves are made of anodized die-cast aluminum, and the screws are made of stainless steel.

    In industrial filters, it is necessary to use valves with special characteristics for shaking the sleeves and consequently dropping the dust.

    The sleeve filter is of the "pulse-jet" type with cleaning of the sleeves performed "on-line" using compressed air blow valves for shaking the sleeves.

    The range includes 6 models from 3/4" to 3", all with female gas threading. Models from 1" 1/2 onwards are all double diaphragm. The special design ensures an extremely rapid response, a very high flow rate, and great ease of installation.

    A version without electrical piloting is available, with pneumatic control and remote piloting.

    The RMF-Z series represents a complete range of valves and solenoid valves with threaded connections used for cleaning dust collector filters, ranging from a size of 3/4" up to 4", all with female gas threading.

    Models larger than 1" 1/2 are all double diaphragm.

    AIRGLOBE RMF-Z-25 is interchangeable with Mecair Goyen VNP-208 and the older VEP-208.

    AIRGLOBE RMF-Z-40 is interchangeable with Mecair Goyen VNP-214 and the older VEP-214.

    How pulse-jet dust collection works

    In bag or cartridge filters dusty air passes through the filter media, which retains the dust on its outer surface. To prevent clogging, the filter is cleaned "on-line" without stopping the plant: a pulse valve releases a very short, powerful blast of compressed air which, through a blowpipe, enters the bags and shakes them, so the dust falls into the hopper.

    The valve works simply: when the coil (or the remote pneumatic pilot) vents the upper chamber, the diaphragm lifts instantly and opens the full flow path. The extremely rapid opening and the high instantaneous flow create the shock wave that cleans the filter with minimal compressed air consumption.

    How to choose a pulse valve

    • Filter size: number and length of the bags per row determine the air volume per pulse and therefore the valve size.
    • Connection: threaded (RMF-Z) or quick (RMF-Q), or the same as the valve to be replaced.
    • Control: integrated solenoid pilot at the panel voltage, or remote pneumatic pilot for harsh environments.
    • Operating conditions: compressed air pressure between 3 and 8 bar and temperature between -5 °C and +55 °C.

    Maintenance: when to replace the diaphragm

    The diaphragm is the wear part. Continuous air leaks from the blowpipe, weak pulses or a rising filter pressure drop are the most common signs of a diaphragm to be replaced. Keeping a diaphragm kit in stock for the installed valves reduces plant downtime: we supply diaphragms and covers with coil interchangeable with Mecair, Goyen and ASCO.
