Kawasaki Staffa motors are low-speed/high-torque radial piston motors that feature a simple design, with radial pistons working directly on an eccentric cam.

This type of two-speed motor allows you to select from a wide range of displacements to meet specific application requirements. Staffa motors can also come in a three-speed version with three preset displacements.

The available series of Staffa motors are:

For HMB and HPB the power is that given as Power Rating in the catalogue. Maximum speeds depend on series, size and selected displacement (for HMB and HPB from 100 to 450 rpm). For HMC, HPC and HMF intermittent pressures are permitted with a limited duty cycle, as stated in the catalogues. With fire-resistant fluids pressure and speed limits are reduced: contact us for verification.

What is the difference between the HMB, HPB, HMC, HPC and HMF series?

HMB is the standard fixed displacement Staffa motor (492–8,000 cm³/rev). HPB is the high-power version, also fixed displacement (983–5,322 cm³/rev). HMC and HPC have two selectable displacements, HMF has three.

Can I change displacement while the motor is running?

Yes on the multi-displacement series: HMC, HPC and HMF allow changing displacement with the motor running. HMC and HPC are also available with continuous variation, hydromechanical or electro-hydraulic.

Can they be fitted in place of motors of other brands?

Kawasaki lists mountings on request in the catalogue for other manufacturers' interfaces. Compatibility must be checked case by case on displacement, flange, shaft and ports: send us the code of the motor to replace.

Which fluids can they be used with?

With mineral oil and, with dedicated codes, with phosphate ester HFD and water-based fluids HFA, HFB and HFC. With some fluids the pressure and speed limits are reduced compared with mineral oil.
